This is a traditionally hand made, and hand painted 'devoré' velvet scarf - coming from the French verb 'to devour'. Using a chemical process to dissolve the viscose velvet fibres, this leaves a semi-transparent pattern against the more solidly woven fabric. Popular in the 1920's and revived in the 1980s by Jasper Conran it still looks, feels and wears beautifully today.
The scarves are remarkably robust, they have a fabulous texture and the colours are just amazing.
