This is unique hand made little Raku ceramic house. It is perfect as an individual piece or as part of making up your own little village. Perfect size to display in a printers trays or on a shelf.
As you can see the fire is lit.
Raku is a traditional Japanese technique. Each unique piece is fired to a high temperature of almost 1000c in a gas fired kiln. It is then removed whilst still very hot and plunged into sawdust. The pieces catch fire and the carbon from the smoke infiltrates the cracks in the glaze. The pieces are then left to cool and then scrubbed clean with water. The result is a finish that is both unpredictable and beautiful.
